ookin' for a rip-roarin',
rootin'-tootin' way to get those young 'uns excited about readin' and
writin'? There's nothin' better'n having them meet a real live author!
I'd love to come and read Puss in Cowboy Boots to your kids, show 'em
some real purdy original artwork from the book and a slide show - why,
I'll even throw in some slides of my own wily cats, Farfel and Spatzle!
And I can talk to the kids about retelling fairy tales to make them
their own or about publishing a book or about cookin' up a big ol' pot
of wild turkey stew! Heck, I'll talk to 'em about any ol' thing you
want me to!
I'll go on and on for about 45 minutes with plenty of time for wacky
questions. Just set me up with a slide projector and a screen in a room
with, oh say, 50 kids or so and stand back! It'd be real good to break
yer posse up into groups - how 'bout 1st and 2nd graders, 3rd and 4th
graders - like that. Now that'll jest make it a whole lot easier for
me to talk to 'em the way they might like to be talked to, if you know
what I mean. And I'd be much obliged if'n they'd read the original Puss
in Boots before I git there.
I'd be plum tickled to put my John Hancock on any and all copies of
my book that y'all care to order in advance!
I ain't gonna charge you an arm and a leg for a visit, but I do have
cats to feed so I can't just come on down fer nothin'. It'll cost you
$500 for me to talk to one group of youngsters or $800 to talk to two
or three groups. And then there's travelin' expenses which is extry.
Give me a holler and we can figure this whole thing out. You'll be glad
you did and I reckon I will be, too!
